Employment Outlook & Wages
With a current estimated shortage of 70,000 technicians, employment
conditions are ripe for graduates of the Auto Technology program. Cars
are more technologically advanced and sophisticated than ever. Gone are
the days when the average person could tinker away most automotive
problems in the home garage. Today's vehicles demand skilled workers to
maintain them, and with the state-of-the-art equipment and instructional
units available at SUN Tech, today's students can become tomorrow's
industry leaders.
In this area, entry-level auto technicians generally earn around
$8.00 per hour, progressing up to $20.00 per hour with experience and
training. An "A" level technician in a mid-sized city such as
Harrisburg can earn up to $70,000 per year.
