CompTIA
is a global association representing more than 8,000 computing and
communications companies, that provides vendor-neutral standards
in certification. The A+ and Net+ certifications provide
recognized proof of professional achievement and credibility for
employers seeking to hire qualified candidates. Companies such as
Apple, Compaq, GE, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Intel, and Microsoft
contributed resources towards this examination raising A+ to a
nationally recognized standard. The objective of the A+ credential
is to certify the competency of entry-level (6 month’s experience)
computer service technicians in both hardware and software. The
objective of the Net+ credential is to provide "vendor neutral”
certification that measures the technical knowledge of networking
professionals with 18 - 24 months experience in the IT industry.

Microsoft’s MCP certification allows employers to know that the
individuals possessing such a credential are highly skilled in
that specific content area. It shows employers that the
individual not only “knows” the information, but can also “do” the
work. The MCP certification not only tests knowledge, but also
tests the application of that knowledge. |
