Community Service

The Cosmetology class at SUN Area Technical Institute offers an ongoing community service project known as “Hair For You.” This project provides free wigs and accessories to cancer patients who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy or other medical treatments.

This project allows for wigs to be purchased specifically sized and suited to the needs of the individual cancer patient. It is a very worthwhile project as the cosmetology students not only receive training in wig care and fitting, but they also experience the first hand rewards of helping others.

Since its inception in 2004 over sixty free wigs have been given out to women in our local communities. To learn more about this project call 570-966-1031 ext. 141. Donations can be made to:
