Drafting CAD Technology

Did you realize that you were training for a career at a very early age? You might have loved building things out of
LEGOS and
Lincoln Logs. You might have enjoyed racing matchbox cars and trucks. Or maybe you were the curious type who enjoyed assembling models or taking things apart to see how they worked.
There is a direct correlation between these toys, the knowledge you will gain in the Drafting CAD program, and the skills you will utilize later in life (work or higher education) in Drafting, Engineering, estimating, and related careers. When selecting a career path make sure you pick one you enjoy: it makes going to work every day fun, exciting, challenging, and rewarding.
In Drafting CAD Technology students learn how to utilize the latest version of
AutoCAD and
3D parametric software programs to complete mechanical and architectural drawings to industry specifications. You will utilize the latest
rapid prototype technology that allows you to see your designs become a reality.
Students in the Drafting CAD Program will:
- Learn skills you can apply to your own life (designing/drawing your own home)
- Create designs that can be used in everyday products.
- Create technically correct drawings that conform to industry standards such as ANSI
- Work on community projects you will find both challenging and rewarding.
- Learn skills that will prepare you for higher education.
- Improve applied math skills.
- Enhance employability and soft skills required to excel in any field.
Emphasis is placed on developing the skills you will ned for your future as a mechanical or architectural drafter.
