Manufacturing is not dead! Precision Machining graduates
of SUN Tech have an excellent history of job placement. Entry level
salaries range from $7 to $10 plus per hour, with skilled toolmakers
earning $18+ per hour. Local businesses contact the school each year to
hire students through the Co-Op program (SUN Tech's School to Careers
Cooperative Education Program). Precision Machining students enjoy one
of the highest Co-op placement rates school wide. Employment
opportunities in this field are at levels not seen in 50 years. There
are currently 30,000 job openings in the U.S. in machining.
Nationally, the average age of a machinist is 55.
