Collision Repair & Advanced Wood Products “simulate” their futures!

On Wednesday, February 11, 2015 SUN Tech’s Collision Repair and Advanced Wood Products classes teamed up to try the new “SimSpray” training system. The painting simulator accelerates the learning of spray painting skills. It is a realistic experience in which the student wears a helmet and needs to select, move, and mount a part before they practice painting. The students were able to pick a piece such as a vertical panel, motorcycle gas tank or fender just to name a few and choose a color to paint that particular piece and then apply a clearcoat. The simulator then scores the student on how they did. This is turn will allow the students to be more proficient painters in a short period of time. With it being similar to video game technology, the students immediately want to put on the helmet and try it out! The great thing about this device is that it is teaching safety along with the experience.
