By attending the Masonry Program at SUN Area Technical Institute, you can learn the skills necessary to enter the Masonry workforce immediately upon graduation, or to advance onto higher education opportunities. Work in Masonry is a combination of physical and mental activity.  Skills to master the tools of the trade along with efficient work habits are what you will learn at SUN.  These skills will enable you to construct quality work that will stand the test of time.  You will also develop an understanding of mathematics as it relates to building materials as well as blueprint reading, jobsite organization, and jobsite safety.

Post-Secondary Opportunities

Students enrolled in the Masonry program can earn up to 12 college credits with Penn College of Technology while enrolled at SUN Tech.

Penn College Dual Enrollment – BCTE234 – Masonry Principles-5 Credits

Certifications

  • OSHA Construction 10 Hr.

Employment

  • A graduate can look for jobs in; Brick/Block apprentice, concrete mason apprentice, tilesetter apprentice, stone mason apprentice, laborer, sales, and prefabrication technician. After completing an apprenticeship, the following careers are available with adequate job training: foreman, supervisor, estimator, contractor, masonry landscape designer, construction technician, and construction superintendent.

Masonry is a SOAR approved program of study. This means that successful completion of this program earns you college credits that can be transferred to participating state colleges and universities.
