HOSA
The Health and Occupations Students of America (HOSA) exists to assist
students in developing leadership and technical skill competencies.
It is intended for those who plan to enter careers that provide care
and health services.
HOSA is an integral
part of Health Occupations. Through HOSA students develop a
better understanding, an awareness of social intelligence, civic
consciousness, and leadership skills. HOSA members have the
opportunity to strengthen their skills by HOSA activities, by
interacting with professionals in health related fields, business
people, and other HOSA members.
HOSA Activities Some of the activities in which the SUN TECH Chapter of HOSA will
engage in are as follows:
- Collect food during the Holiday Season.
- Take blood pressure at school and at a local mall
- Participate in Dental Education Programs.
- Sell Daffodils for the American Cancer Society.
- Assist with The Children's Miracle Telethon and make a
contribution to this HOSA national priority.
- Sell various products to support chapter activities.
- Participate in HOSA competition.
- Conduct regular Chapter meetings, some involving guest
speakers.
- Take field trips to health care facilities and a community
college.
Students in the Dental Assisting Program and the Health Assistant
Program can participate in the HOSA Chapter at the SUN TECH.
They follow the HOSA motto: "The Hands of HOSA Mold the Health of
Tomorrow."
The strategic plan of
the SUN Area Career and Technology Center is a results-oriented
document and provides a structure for public accountability. Many
individuals will be asked to contribute to the work set forth in
this plan in order to actualize the school's vision and mission.
By working in collaboration, the SUN Area Career and Technology
Center will be better prepared to provide its students with the
educational opportunities needed to meet the challenges of the
21st century. |
