Skills USA VICA is a national organization that serves high school and college students and professional members who are enrolled in training programs in technical, skilled, and service occupations, including health occupations. SkillsUSA VICA prepares America’s high performance workers. It provides quality education experiences for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship, and character development. It builds and reinforces self-confidence, work attitudes, and communications skills. It emphasizes total quality, high ethical standards, superior work skills, life-long education and pride in the dignity of work. SkillsUSA VICA also promotes understanding of the free enterprise system and involvement in community service activities.
SkillsUSA VICA programs include local, state and national competitions in which students demonstrate occupational and leadership skills.
The Health and Occupations Students of America (HOSA) exists to assist students in developing leadership and technical skill
competencies. It is intended for those who plan to enter careers that provide care and health services.
HOSA is an integralpart of Health Occupations. Through HOSA students develop a better understanding, an awareness of social intelligence, civic consciousness, and leadership skills. HOSA members have the opportunity to strengthen their skills by HOSA activities, by interacting with professionals in health related fields, business people, and other HOSA members.
Some of the activities in which the SUN TECH Chapter of HOSA will engage in are as follows:
Collect food during the Holiday Season.
Take blood pressure at school and at a local mall
Participate in Dental Education Programs.
