SkillsUSA VICA
Skills USA VICA is a national organization that serves high school
and college students and professional members who are enrolled in
training programs in technical, skilled, and service occupations,
including health occupations. SkillsUSA VICA prepares America's
high performance workers. It provides quality education
experiences for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship, and
character development. It builds and reinforces self-confidence,
work attitudes, and communications skills. It emphasizes total
quality, high ethical standards, superior work skills, life-long
education and pride in the dignity of work. SkillsUSA VICA also
promotes understanding of the free enterprise system and involvement
in community service activities. SkillsUSA VICA programs include
local, state and national competitions in which students demonstrate
occupational and leadership skills.

Activities
HOSA
The Health and Occupations Students of America (HOSA) exists to assist
students in developing leadership and technical skill competencies.
It is intended for those who plan to enter careers that provide care
and health services.
HOSA is an integral
part of Health Occupations. Through HOSA students develop a
better understanding, an awareness of social intelligence, civic
consciousness, and leadership skills. HOSA members have the
opportunity to strengthen their skills by HOSA activities, by
interacting with professionals in health related fields, business
people, and other HOSA members.
HOSA Activities
Some of the activities in which the SUN TECH Chapter of HOSA will
engage in are as follows:
- Collect food during the Holiday Season.
- Take blood pressure at school and at a local mall
- Participate in Dental Education Programs.
- Sell Daffodils for the American Cancer Society.
- Assist with The Children's Miracle Telethon and make a
contribution to this HOSA national priority.
- Sell various products to support chapter activities.
- Participate in HOSA competition.
- Conduct regular Chapter meetings, some involving guest
speakers.
- Take field trips to health care facilities and a community
college.
Students in the Dental Assisting Program and the Health Assistant
Program can participate in the HOSA Chapter at the SUN TECH.
They follow the HOSA motto: "The Hands of HOSA Mold the Health of
Tomorrow."
