Electrical Systems Technology

Program Description

The Electrical Systems Technology class provides training through a combination of classroom instruction and practical, hands-on assignments.  Projects, both within and outside of the school, give you hands-on experience in a safe, supervised environment.  You will learn to design and build electrical systems to meet the requirements of the National Electrical Code and OSHA.  Emphasis is placed on developing skills used in residential, commercial, and industrial installation, design and repair.  Local methods, materials and requirements are taught, therefore making you highly employable.

Skills you will acquire in the SUN Tech Electrical Systems Technology program include:

  • Electrical Safety
  • Learn how to wire a home to meet National Electrical Code requirements.
  • Design and troubleshoot motor control circuits used in industry.
  • Develop Programmable Logic Control (PLC) programs that control modern day manufacturing processes.

Gain an understanding of the fundamentals of electricity.

Post-Secondary Opportunities

The Electrical Systems Technology program prepares students to continue their education at a variety of two-year and four-year colleges and technical schools as well as entry into accredited apprentice programs. Several schools offer qualified SUN graduates Advanced Placement. This can save as much as $1200 on tuition expenses.

Some apprenticeship programs, and all military training programs, are free to the student and provide a competitive salary while you learn.

Certifications

Students who earn a proficient score on their NOCTI exam will be awarded a PA State Skills Certificate.

Program of Study

Electrical Systems Technology is a SOAR approved program of study.

This means that successful completion of this program earns you college credits that can be transferred to participating state colleges and universities.

Program Uniform

Electrical Systems Technology students must come to school dressed in the approved program uniform.  Shirts can be ordered using the order form link provided.
