Program Description

HAVE YOU EVER HAD A DREAM TO BE A DOCTOR, NURSE, OR TAKE CARE OF THE ELDERLY?  The Health Professions Program here at SUN Tech allows you to live out your childhood dream.  If you like working with the public, show empathy to others, have good communication skills and have a desire to become a health care worker, visit the Health Professions Program at SUN Tech.

The Health Professions program at SUN Tech helps you learn the theory and practical skills required to help prepare you for a career in the health field.  You will learn the duties of a Nurse Aide and have the opportunity to perform skills learned as you deliver quality resident care while at our clinical affiliations at a local long term care facility and local community hospital.  You will learn the importance of commitment to other members of the health care team.  Preparation is primarily in a simulated work environment combined with clinical application.  Core subjects to be covered: 150 hour State approved Nurse Aide course, anatomy and physiology, Medical Abbreviations, Medical Terminology, Infection Control and Safety, Basic Nursing, Medical Assistant and Receptionist Skills, CPR/First Aid, Career Exploration, Employability Skills and Leadership.

Post-Secondary Opportunities

  • Student enrolled in Health Professions and Related Sciences will have the opportunity to earn college credits attending SUN Tech. The following credits can be earned towards your education at Pennsylvania College of Technology :
    HTH100 Intro to Health Careers 2 Credits
    MTR104 Basics of Medical Technology 3 Credits

    The Health Professions and Related Sciences program prepares students to continue their education at two-year and four year colleges and technical schools . Program of Study

Health Professions is a SOAR approved program of study.

This means that successful completion of this program earns you college credits that can be transferred to participating state colleges and universities.

Program Uniform

Health Professions students must come to school dressed in the approved program uniform.  Shirts can be ordered using the order form link provided.
