The Welding Program provides hands-on training in all welding positions and the theoretical backgrounds required for an entry-level position in the field. The Welding program offers the opportunity to earn numerous industry certifications that increase employability.
Program Description
A Professional Welder’s career options are nearly endless. Careers range from structural welding and pipe fitting to manufacturing and fabrication. Best of all, the demand for welders worldwide continues to grow. Nine months of your life in the Welding Program will benefit you for the rest of your life.
The SUN Tech Welding Program provides you with the hands-on training in all positions and theoretical backgrounds required for an entry-level position in the field of welding. You also have the opportunity to take a certification test (D1.1 or D1.5) at the end of the school year.

- Gas Metal Arc Welding
- Gas Tungsten Arc Welding
- Flux Core Arc Welding
- Submerged Arc Welding
- Oxyfuel Cutting/Welding/Brazing
- CNC/Manual Plasma cutting
- Blueprint Reading
- Nondestructive Testing Methods/Inspection
- Fabrication skills

The welding program prepares students to continue their education at a variety of two-year and four-year colleges and technical schools as well as entry into accredited apprentice programs. Several schools offer qualified SUN graduates Advanced Placement. This can save as much as $4,000 on tuition expenses.
Some apprenticeship programs and all military training programs are free to the student and provide a competitive salary while you learn.

Certifications
Students who earn a proficient score on their NOCTI exam will be awarded a PA State Skills Certificate.

Program of Study
Welding is a SOAR approved program of study.
This means that successful completion of this program earns you college credits that can be transferred to participating state colleges and universities.
